It Was All a Dream!

I've always been a writer. As a child, I was known as a bookworm, and it was a fair bet that if I didn't have my head in a book, I was feverishly outlining a new story or poem. However, I didn't want to commit to a lifetime of writing books or being a professor.

Unsure how I could make a living as a writer I turned to my second love, helping people. Within two years of earning my bachelors degree, I had a leadership role in a global organization. For the next 7 years, I worked full-time; acquiring further experience in education, healthcare for communities, nonprofits, business/team development, and communications.

I scratched my writing itch with in-house projects and freelance writing assignments. Whether it was developing health-technology stat sheets for advocacy groups and decision makers or creating a lesson plan for a youth education project, empowering others to act was at the core of every project.

Still, I felt torn. I was doing fulfilling work, but it wasn't my passion.

Then life happened. A turn of events led me to content marketing on a full-time basis, and soon I realized that I was living both my dreams of being a writer and helping people. Mind. Blown.

These days I think of myself as the Clark Kent(a) of content marketing; I nerd out during the day, following SEO and social media trends and analyzing metrics. At night I put on my cape and crank out goal-driven content that builds trust and authority.

My superpower is developing long-term relationships with my clients. I aim to create a professional and friendly experience that will make you want to work with me. I write until you’re satisfied and quickly answer questions and feedback. I go above and beyond because I’m passionate about my work and seek to get better with each project.

Furthermore, I have a Bachelors Degree in Communication and Culture, a Masters Degree in Administration and Management, and I am proficient in InDesign and Photoshop; with intermediate skills in digital photography (DSLR).

Other things to know:

I am a baby yogi, and my favorite pastime is convincing unexpecting suckers to attend hot yoga with me (enter at your own risk).
My favorite vacation is a week-long trip that I take to Jamaica, where I teach literacy to primary school youth.
I am very humble unless discussing my Alma Mater, Howard University or my hometown of St. Louis, MO.
I hoard book titles, and I have a favorite book from almost every genre. My goal is to read or listen to at least one book a month.
I am fluent in text-lingo, emoji, gifs, memes, Black Twitter, BRAVOtv, and food.
Most people binge on Netflix shows; I binge on podcast episodes and documentaries.
I love social media and birthed my nonprofit, Hello, My Name is KING from an Instagram campaign.
